Meet our People

Andrew Lander Principal Solicitor

Andrew was raised in South Africa and immigrated to Australia with his family in the early nineties. One of Andrew’s great strengths is his strong values base and commitment to social justice. These values were entrenched when Andrew first attended university and obtained a Bachelor of Social Work with honours from James Cook University (graduated in 1996).

He enjoys working with people of all cultures and different ethnic backgrounds. Andrew is bilingual and can speak Greek and some Afrikaans.

Andrew undertook a post graduate law degree through the University of Queensland and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2003 after completing two years as an articled clerk.

Working at reputable firms on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Andrew practiced in general litigation for almost four years, and then, in 2004, moved to practicing exclusively in family law. Andrew’s experience with litigation generally informs his family law practice – disputes, and their resolution, have been his focus since his legal career began. Andrew has developed a strong focus on fair and amicable resolution wherever possible, with his clients supported by his fearless familiarity with the court process.

In early 2015 Andrew decided to go out on his own and set up his own law firm. His vision was to provide a cost effective and experienced family law representation focused on clients and their needs. Andrew believes that this differentiation is very important as too often solicitors offer services in way that suits the needs of the firm’s business requirements (with lawyer’s needing to meet billing targets) and not having the flexibility to be able to run a case based on the financial constraints of the client. On the other hand Andrew, using his experience and clever use of resources has cut unnecessary costs to his business and passed on the savings to his clients through his less expensive hourly rates.

Andrew is committed to his ongoing education and is currently completing his Masters in Family Law with a focus on Mediation.
